Remote Acts Of Kindness
We have seen some of the most impressive displays of generosity and compassion during this challenging time, and thanks to social distancing, acts of kindness are no longer random but remote.
For some, kindness has become the new norm. Stories from around the world show both individuals and groups assisting one another during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite the distance. Quarantine parties, neighborhood dance-offs, food and supply distribution, and encouraging social media posts help combat loneliness and share a little love.
The exciting thing is that anyone can facilitate a remote act of kindness — no non-profit status or celebrity name necessary! It’s all about helping someone else. Here are three simple ideas to help you get started:
1. Send someone a motivational message. You could opt for a text, DM, or email. Or you may want to “go ole school” and even write them a letter. The point is to let them know that they are appreciated.
2. Keep it positive. After watching hours of the news, a lighter tone is a welcome change. Post something uplifting on social media or give a friend or family member a call. The key is to provide comfort instead of criticism.
3. Offer to help. If you’re getting ready to make a run to the store, pick up a few items for your local food bank or pantry program.
Once you get going, it’s easy to think of more remote acts of kindness. However, if you’re looking for more resources and things to do, check out the Random Acts of Kindness Website.
