The Importance Of Morning Quiet Time With God

The presence of God is a great place to start your day. So before the world grabs you and pulls you in multiple directions, set your intentions by spending quiet time with God in the morning. Your daily quiet time can be the best part of every day!

What is morning quiet time with God?

The purpose of quiet time is to get to know God and cultivate a relationship with him. Meeting with the Lord when the day is still young is a privilege. Communing with the Father through prayer, bible study, meditation, or journaling are excellent practices to include in your morning routine.

The Game-Changer

One massive game-changer is not just reading but studying the Word of God. Instead of trying to finish the chapter, read for comprehension and ask God to reveal the meaning of the scriptures. Poring over God’s word in our morning quiet time provides us with a better understanding of who he is, who we are in him, and how we are to navigate this world. After reading each passage, take the time to answer six simple questions:

  1. Who is the text about?
  2. What is happening?
  3. When did it happen?
  4. Where does it take place?
  5. Why are these things being said and done?
  6. How is this important and applicable to life today?

This 6-question technique is inspired by the Inductive Bible Study Method. Try to give as much detail as possible when answering each question.

Developing an Intimate Relationship with God

Christian books and workbooks are great but ensure you include them alongside your bible study. It is essential not to neglect your study for the devotions of others. Our relationship with Christ should be intimate and not second-hand.

Quiet time with God each morning is a great way to invite peace into your home and work life. Numerous passages throughout the Bible talk about the importance of intimate time with God, including:

  • “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” — Joshua 1:8
  • “Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” — James 4:8
  • “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” — Romans 8:6

In the end

Intimacy with the Father is essential to the life of every Christian. Quiet time with God in the morning should begin before surfing social media or succumbing to the pressure of an overcrowded inbox. Instead, start your day in communication with the one who matters.
